With 2020&#8217;s news cycle, the topic has obviously been pushed out of primetime for larger, more important issues.<\/p>\n<p>Of note, while there certainly is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apa.org\/action\/resources\/research-in-action\/protect\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a link between <strong>tv violence<\/strong> and youth impact<\/a>, other forms of entertainment throughout history consistently fail to prove a strong correlation to youth behavior\/psychology.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There was the music industry&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/2015\/10\/09\/oral-history-tipper-gores-war-explicit-rock-lyrics-dee-snider-373103.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Parental Advisory hearings<\/a> of the late 1980s &#8211; which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/2015\/10\/09\/oral-history-tipper-gores-war-explicit-rock-lyrics-dee-snider-373103.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">still have yet to prove linkage<\/a> of explicit lyrics to adolescent behavior.<\/li>\n<li>Even\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/crimereads.com\/when-the-novel-was-dangerous\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">books\/novels were considered dangerous<\/a> in the 18th century as they reached prominence in entertainment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Video Games look more and more to be joining the realm of Music and Books as a force which fails to show correlation to aggression.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychologicalscience.org\/news\/releases\/2020-sept-violent-video-games.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yet another study<\/a> from Stetson University (as a follow-up from another 2015 study from the\u00a0American Psychological Association) shows again &#8211; <em>no substantative link<\/em>. &#8220;Dubious at Best&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Consider this quip at the end:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cGames are now more important than ever for socialization, feeling autonomy and control during an uncertain time, and just de-stressing\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Game On.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We continously hear from politicians and the religious right (every time there is a school shooting, the topic surfaces) of the dangers of video games on children\/youth.
